Email to SMS

Introduction

Authorised users of iflow’s Message Centre service can submit their messages automatically by email.

Prerequisites

The following conditions must be met to enable SMS delivery via email:

1. Existing Message Centre user account; the email address and mobile number in the user account will be used to authenticate the user and to specify a return address for the text message.
2. Sufficient account credit; messages will not be delivered if the account balance is zero at the time of delivery

Furthermore, usage of and access to iflow’s Message Centre service and systems is subject to our terms and conditions of service.

Email Formats

Email Format 1

The email must be sent from an email address that will be recognised by Message Centre to authenticate the sender.

The subject of the email address must contain the originator's mobile number (the number the message is coming from) or 11 characters of text describing who the message is from.

The email must be in plain text format and not in rich text or html format. The body of the email message will be the text message sent to the mobile phone and should not exceed 160 characters.

The email should be sent to <mobilenumber>@iflowtech.com where <mobilenumber> is replaced with the intended recipients mobile number (please see below for mobile number formats). Also please note there is no hyphen (-) between the ‘iflow’ and ‘tech’ parts of the email address.

Email Format 2

The email must be sent from an email address that will be recognised by Message Centre to authenticate the sender.

The subject of the email address must contain the mobile number of the receiving mobile phone. No other characters should be used with the following exception. Multiple mobile numbers can be specified with the semi-colon character (;) between them.

The email must be in plain text format and not in rich text or html format. The body of the email message will be the text message sent to the mobile phone and should not exceed 160 characters.

The email should be sent to sms@iflowtech.com. Please note there is no hyphen (-) between the ‘iflow’ and ‘tech’ parts of the email address.

Authentication and Originator

The email address of the sender’s email is used to authenticate the Message Centre user. Any emails from unrecognised email addresses will be discarded.

The Message Centre user record also contains the user’s mobile telephone number. This mobile number will be used as the originating number for the SMS transmission.

You can edit your user’s details by logging on to www.iflow-tech.com and clicking on ‘Your Account’.
